I have been married to beautiful Katherine for 25 years, the father of three amazing children – our son, in his 20’s, married and living in Central Florida, and our daughters, in their teens. We are from South Florida but currently live in Maryland where I pastor a church of roughly 1300 people – a great congregation. We love the beach (I surf –
poorly) and the tropics, but since moving to the Northeast we have become enamored with the snow. For my 50th birthday (the avatar picture was taken on our way to a Bob Dylan concert for my 50th), I got a German Shepherd which we named Bear – he is now officially our second son. We are Christ-followers – For me, somewhere in my journey, the Grace of God invaded my heart and I realized that all the religious expression in the world wouldn’t be able to heal the wounds, forgive the sins and repair the shattered places in my heart and life, that come from living in a broken world – but Jesus has – and He continues to as I and we live out our lives, imperfectly, often stumbling, and always in need of His ever-abounding love and mercy.

Just stumbled across your blog while I was looking for information about the Screwtape Presetation. Anyway, I have been attending Chapelgate rather frequently of late, and wanted to say I appreciate your genuineness. My daughter recently became a member of your congregation and loves it, I might add. Her name is Linda Miller.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for being so real! God bless you continuously!

I can relate to Katherine’s role as bill payer. It is nice to know I am not alone! Thanks for sharing.

Dear Mike,
Like Rex, I too stumbled across your wonderful Blog and was blown away by your eloquence. Through the Tau Sig grapevine, I recalled you and Katherine were in our beloved South Florida, but now find you in Maryland. How blessed is your new church to have you at the helm. I hope you all are happy there and enjoying the fabulous seasonal changes as we do here in SC.
Blessings, Linda Lou 1/2
